This week on Open Your Eye, Tarra Simpson & Kim Cooper chat with film producer Karen Wookey July 7th 2022
www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011130767017

Karen has spent decades traveling to South America, destination like Costa Rica, Peru, and more to study as well as taking part in healing ceremonies that utilize natural psychedelic plants, fungi & animals to heal one's mind body and spirit. Her own journey and subsequent education on plant therapy began in the early 1990's, long before it became the trend that we see evolving today. She has experienced psychedelic medicine in a variety of settings during her travels and is here tonight to share and discuss her experiences, and touch on some of the healing in others she has witnessed over her decades long journey.

Karen has produced documentaries on a variety of subjects, including natural therapy. “Jacks Garage” is one of those docs which follows a man as he heals himself, and others, with natural medicine. Karen is currently on location with Dr Gabor Mate, documenting the trauma women have encountered and their use of natural therapy to find relief.

Kim and Tarra speak to this well versed and educated documentary producer about her personal journey with psychedelic medicine as well as discussing highlights from her past and current project, set to be released later this year.
Join us as we discuss Karen’s travels and experiences with psychedelic medicine!

This week on PEACE News & Views, Kim Cooper sits down with photographer & former editor in chief of High Times Magazine, Malcolm MacKinnon.
www.facebook.com/malcolm.mackinnon.790

Malcolm MacKinnon is a veteran photojournalist and writer, widely considered to be one of the foremost cannabis photographers in the world. He is the former editor-in-chief of HIGH TMES magazine who used the pen name of "Dan Skye” during his 25-year career. He also served as executive editor of HEMP TIMES, a sister publication (1996-1999). He shot over 50 covers and centerfolds and traveled nearly a million miles on assignments, becoming the most published feature writer and photographer in the magazine's history. His work has been published in over 200 publications worldwide.

In addition, Malcolm has amassed a vast archive of Native American imagery. For over 30 years, he has covered Native American issues. He has interviewed and photographed numerous Native American leaders including Russell Means, Dennis Banks, John Trudell, Clyde and Vernon Bellecourt and Winona LaDuke, among others. He is a long-time advocate for the release of Leonard Peltier, who has now served over 45 years in federal prison, victim of one of the worst miscarriages of justice in U.S. history. Behind bars, Leonard has become an outstanding painter and has frequently used Malcolm’s photographs for his artwork.

Currently, Malcolm is working on three books, each focusing on a different area of his photography.
